Follow the Curious by Stu Maschwitz
As a Christian, I know that there is something greater than me, something my knowledge and understanding can’t begin to approach. As a result, I know that I don’t know: that there is always something new to discover, always a better way of doing things. Scientists throughout history have applied this idea to great effect, slowly peeling back layers of God’s creation only to reveal more intricate and complex layers beneath.
Stu Maschwitz isn’t writing here from a Christian perspective, but he reaches the same conclusion. There is no “best” way to accomplish something in filmmaking – perhaps not because it doesn’t exist, but because we can’t possibly know when we’ve found it. So don’t bother searching for it. Experiment, be creative. Be curious.
That’s how discoveries are made.
