Back in 2009 I was the assistant editor on Feel Your Heart Race, a documentary about NASCAR directed by Doug Pray. Doug also happens to be a fantastic editor, and cut the half-hour show. This is a screenshot of the audio breakdown I made for the sound mixers: dialogue, sound effects, nat sound, and music were all separated and spread over 40+ tracks.
There was something about the complexity and huge number of tracks that I found compelling. For an assistant editor, it’s akin to modern art or architecture: every piece in its precise place, telling a part of the story.

I'm an assistant editor at Pixar. My thoughts are something like faith and film run through a flux capacitor.
